2. Entropy and Information Gain
Entropy is a concept borrowed from physics and information theory. It measures the level of disorder or randomness in a set of data. The higher the entropy, the more mixed or impure the data in a node. Conversely, a pure node has zero entropy.

Decision Trees for Regression
While the impurity measures (Gini, Entropy) are primarily for classification, Decision Trees can also handle regression tasks. The core idea of splitting to create purer nodes remains, but the definition of “purity” changes.
For regression, a node is considered pure if all the target values within it are very close to each other. Instead of Gini or Entropy, we often use metrics like Mean Squared Error (MSE) or Mean Absolute Error (MAE) to quantify impurity.

Strengths of Decision Trees
Decision Trees are incredibly popular for several good reasons:
